Take Time, De-stress

On Wednesday at 11:30 PM, Kyle turned to me and said, "Do you want to go to California this weekend?" I replied, "Are you serious or are you not serious?" Turns out he was serious and we dropped everything, woke up at 5 AM the next morning, made the 10 hour drive, and surprised my mom in California.
I feel like sometimes, especially while attending BYU, we get too caught up in school and the grades we have to get that we forget to take the time to actually live our lives. These last couple of weeks have been pretty stressful with midterms and has been extremely stressful for Kyle because he has had test on top of tests. This week was pretty mellow with not as many due dates. It made for a perfect weekend get-away. Now I am in no way saying that everyone needs to B-line it to California every weekend. But I do think it is important to get out and get away from Provo, even if it is just for a couple of hours. You can go on a hike, get an ice cream, hang out with some friends, or do anything that gets your mind off of what is stressing you out.
After the experience we've had this weekend I feel better ready for the week ahead, happy because I was able to see my family, and prepared to attack the rest of the semester. I will continue to find little get-aways throughout the day, week, and month. I will also try to find ways to better help my husband de-stress.
