New Heights
This week I went to see Matilda the Musical in Salt Lake City. For those of you who don't really know what Matilda is about here is a little re-cap. Matilda is a little girl born to parents who were not too pleased to have her around. Her parents were very superficial whereas Matilda, at the age of five, was reading very advanced books, could solve advance mathematical problems, and had a magical power she was unaware of. Matilda throughout the play and stood up for what was right. Her big, main line was, " You musn't let a little thing like little stop you."
That line resonates well with me, especially because I'm 5'1". I think a lot of us, especially at BYU, forget how big we really are. It's easy to get lost in all of the competition, school, and trying to keep up socially. We turn ourselves into something little, something that has no potential or fight. We need to remember that we cannot let what others say get the best of us. I know that I have given into, a time or two, to believing that I am not capable of achieving the highest heights.
After watching the play I came out more motivated to reach new heights. I will continue to apply myself to the dreams that I have always had. I want to continue to apply all of the things that I learn in school, church, and from my family. Last of all I wan to be the best me I know possible and not "let a thing like little stop" me.
