Music Heals the Soul
I have the privilege to teach Sunday School to a group of 12 year-olds. Every now and then we have different trainings on how to be better teachers. This last Sunday we had a training on music. I love music! I mean who doesn't? Am I right? The training was all about how we steer our students to be able to really feel the Spirit through the music of the Gospel. I understood what they were trying to do, but it is a little hard to get a bunch a 12 year-olds to sit around and sing music. However, the training did help me reflect back onto how much music has helped me.
I really do believe that music heals the soul. In high school I listened to the same music everyone else did and it was fine. Once senior year rolled around I decided to branch out on my music taste. I started to listened to some genres I never thought I would ever like and I fell in love. All of a sudden this music had a story behind every song and everything had a little bit of a deeper meaning. This music helped me cope with the trials high school brought.
As of late I haven't really been listen to my music. I have just been settling with the radio. I am so grateful for that Sunday School lesson that reminded me of the joys of good music, gospel and other genres. I am determined to listen more to the music I fell in love with senior year of high school and to the music of the gospel.
