Modern Day Apostles
This week my husband and I went to a BYU Men’s Basketball game. Now I know what you are thinking, “what could anyone possibly learn from a basketball game?” My answer to that is, so many things! Sitting across the court from my husband and me were not one but two members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. I was giddy inside. I was seriously fan-girling. I turned to my little sisters and pointed out the Apostles sitting across from us and they too were super excited. Some would say that we were overreacting, but I don’t think we were.
After the basketball game my husband and I were talking about the Apostles at the basketball game. For Kyle, my husband, Apostles live just down the street from him. But, I grew up in California where Apostles definitely didn’t live down the stress. Kyle served his mission in Brazil where Apostles also don’t live around the corner. He told me that the people he served with treated the Apostles as they would if they were in the presence of Peter, James, and John. I have always respected the Apostles but I never thought about how they represent the same God that Peter, James, and John did.
It was a completely new perspective. I think it was hard for me, at first, to think in that way because, after all, it would be hard to imagine Peter at a basketball game. I feel like I can go on with a new perspective whenever I have the privilege of running into an Apostle in this great state.
